CLASS OF 1971

  • After Graduation, attended Vanier College where I met Ron
  • Joined Royal Bank Marketing Dept. in April, 1974 - moved into a downtown Montreal apartment with Joy (Shaw) Reichel & discovered the cruel realities of life-Mom and Dad no longer replenished our toothpaste and toilet paper supplies.
  • Since I now belong to the esteemed over-50 Club, it has given me the right of passage to refer to that time as "the good ol' years" and begin every second sentence with "remember when a buck was a buck."
  • Received my first pay cheque, purchased a ring over a lunch hour at Place Ville Marie, put it on "Chargex" and my credit cards have never been back to a zero-balance since.
  • Ron completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Sir George University
  • We were engaged in 1976, married on May 20, 1978 & moved to Ontario - We celebrated our 25th. Anniversary in May, 2003
  • Had a 25 year career with the bank much of which my time was spent working in Human Resources & Training departments. I left the bank in a full time capacity in the year 2000 to open my own business [Moongate Impressions] specializing in web design, graphics & internet solutions. I still continue to work with the Royal Bank on special projects on a part-time basis.
  • Ron and I have two passions - one of which is travelling and the other is our Golden Retrievers. Currently Dillon rules the roost in our home - he is all boy, weighing in at 98 lbs. and is totally food-driven. He is as naughty as they come, but nothing he does is without a twinkle in his eye.

I unfortunately will not be able to attend the upcoming reunion as Ron and I will be out of the country at the same time it is scheduled.

I hope everyone has a wonderful time reminiscing our years at Riverdale. I had so much fun looking at the website and it was wonderful seeing our yearbook photos again - it helped when recalling all the names to associate them with the faces. What a nice idea to include multiple years to celebrate Riverdale's 40th. Birthday as I know many of us made acquaintances and forged friendships that spanned the year of our own graduating class.

I look forward to coming back to the website to see photos or perhaps read stories that you might consider sharing with those of us who can't be there in person. I'd also like to forward on my kudos to the Reunion organizing committee. I can only begin to imagine the amount of hard work you all have invested in putting together this event.

Have a terrific time everyone!
